Trans Iowa V3

I'm sending my postcard off to enter the Trans Iowa V3 lottery. Nothing left to do but train, train, train.

Gravel > Idlewild > Gravel

I took today off to burn up some leftover vacation. Once the fog cleared off, I decided it was time for a ride. I rode gravel to Idlewild and back. The trails were in good shape and free of snow, but the gravel was hella soft. Here's a few pics.

Happy Veterans Day

A quote: "Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." I went out for an hour ride this morning. Just a nice easy ride along the trail to Spring Park and back. The 29er loves snow. In other news: I picked up 6 pairs of Fox River, medium weight Merino wool hiking socks for $2 a pair at the annual Fox River Rotary Sock Sale. I bought some nice wool mittens too. It was busy as usual, with hardly enough room to walk around. I love wool!!

I set out running but I take my time

I went out for 20 mellow miles of gravel travel this afternoon on the hoopty fixie. I shed both of my sweat shirts and my wool beanie by the end of the ride. Got thoroughly dusted by pickups 3 times. The highlight was finding 3 packs of Smarties in my pocket on the way home.

2 Thumbs Up!

Noah likes bikes and gives them 2 big thumbs up. We spent this afternoon at the WSR, enjoying the nice weather out doors. We practiced our sling-shot and archery skills and hung out with other boy scouts. After dark, they had a haunted hayride set up in the woods. The scouts did a good job of scaring us too.
