Small wheel turn by the fire and rod

Noah and I put in 16 miles this morning before it was too hot! We rode the Harry Cook nature trail to SPring Park and then followed the River Road along the Cedar River. We took a little rest in Mitchell before riding home. This was Noah's longest ride at 16 miles. Not too bad for a 7 year old. Stay Cool..... Joe in Osage

Target Practice

Noah and I rode our bikes out to the range Saturday for some long overdue target practice. I don't think I've fired a shot in 5 years. We met a friend there and he already had an appropriate target in place. This was Noah's first time shooting anything but a BB gun and we're still trying to figure out if he's going to shoot lefty or righty. I brought my wife's old Armalite AR-7 survival rifle. The whole thing breaks down and stores in the stock, so it easily fit in my Camelbak. I borrowed Troy's Kimber .45 auto for a bit. The 8 head shots are mine from 25 meters with .45 semi-wadcutters. Good times..

Herrick Lake Forest Preserve

I spent the week in Lisle, Il. for work and brought my beater fixie along. Luckily, the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve is only a mile from the hotel I was at.
The Lake
"Coasting" on the fixie.
The reslult of trying to get a picture of myself "coasting" on the fixie. I think my foot slipped off the downtube and jammed the fender into the front wheel. I went OTB and got banged up pretty good. I've got some serious purple bruises. I had to twist the bars/stem back in line and tried to straighten the fender a bit. The mosquitos were swarming me like crazy too, Damn!

Sudden Gust of Gravity

So I was out bombing the town today on my 5 foot longboard, making some deeeep carves on new concrete, really goovin'. I took a carve too deep and got wheelbite, which promtly threw my ass to the pavement. I got up quickly and skated on as there were bystanders you know. Not 5 minutes later, I ate shit again when the rear wheels slid out on some loose dirt in the street. Damn!... more witnesses too.
