Ride to the Beach

Noah and I rode our bikes up to Mitchell for a picnic and some fun at the beach. It's about a 16 mile round trip, but Noah has been riding it for 3 years. It rained on us off and on the whole day but we still had fun.

The Un-Ballyhoo Weekend

Big thanks to the Decorah riders for putting together a fun weekend. The campsite was perfect. Also, BIG thanks to Deke for bringing all the burgers to grill. The trails were great and I got to hang out with a bunch of awesome people.
My bike loaded for camping on the Decorah trails
Some mid-ride trail work to mark a fence sticking out of the ground
My tipi set up in the camping area
We hauled an ass-load of wood up to the campfire
Waiting around for the 6-o-clock group ride to start
the aftermath on Sunday morning.... good times

Spring Park Flood Damage

Noah and I rode the trail to Spring Park near Osage Tuesday to inspect the flood damage. There were picnic tables and trees scattered everywhere. The road that runs through the park was washed out a lot too.

Random Thoughts

I sold my Xtracycle over a year ago and I really miss it. As you can see, it's possible to carry junk on my fixie with front and rear racks.... but it was just so easy with the Xtracycle. Maybe I'll get another one, or better yet, a Surly Big Dummy. I went out for a couple nice off road rides this weekend between the storms and rain. I managed to pinch flat my rear tire on Saturday. Lots of big, sharp rocks on the trail and I only run 20 psi. I also discoverd a big cut in my rear tire. I ordered a couple Panaracer Rampages to replace the WTB Exiwolves that I'm using now, so I'll be able to try them out this weekend. I snapped a few pics of the flood damage today.
