Trans Iowa
Here's some pics from the Trans Iowa race. I only rode 123 miles, but I was just happy to have completed my first ever century ride. In the end, it was my lack of training that kept me from going further. I just never had the drive to get out and ride more. Would I do it again??? Heck yeah! Thanks to Mark and Jeff for pulling it off and giving me the opportunity to ride through some beautiful countryside. For me, the highlight of the event was meeting and riding with so many awesome people.
Brian, who completed the course on his Matt Chester singlespeed.

Rivendell Quickbeam... the only fixie to complete the course. Can't remember the owner's name.

Awesome Weekend
The weather finally turned nice after a mid-week blizzard. Saturday I enjoyed a 60 miler, half gravel, half blacktop.
The weather was even better Sunday and I've got the sunburn to prove it. I spent a few hours geocaching in Charles City.
The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out at the Custom Death Bike Shop.
Less than 2 weeks until Trans Iowa and I'm not ready. I'm just going to push myself as far as I can and enjoy the countryside.

NEW BIKE DAY
Here's a blurry pic of my CrossCheck I picked up today. It's one of the completes that Surly sells. Bike shop upgraded the rear rim at no charge, as the original was damaged in shipment. I ordered a honey Brooks B-17 and some M-424 pedals. The bike fits pretty good. I may need the bars a little higher if I don't get used to them. I just haven't ridden drops in a while, so I'm giving them a chance before I raise them up any. I brought it home and swapped out the tires for my IRC Mythos slick 700 x 40's. Put on some fenders, computer, light, saddle bag, and bottle cages. One side of my right pedal sticks open when I click out of them. Anybody ever had that? I love the color and I love the bars. The bars are wide and flare out a little a the drops.
